Intensification of extreme weather events combined with weak social protection threatens the livelihoods and financial health of garment workers – especially women – in countries such as Bangladesh and Cambodia. Rising food prices, lost income, mounting healthcare costs, and depleted savings are becoming the norm. The business risks are clear too: rising absenteeism, declining productivity, and staff higher turnover. It all hits the bottom line.

At the same time, there’s a clear opportunity for financial service providers and global buyers to team up to design scalable, worker-informed digital financial solutions including remittances, savings and insurance. These tools don’t just boost workers’ financial resilience, they also drive greater efficiency and stability across global supply chains.
