Join Mastercard, RISE, CDS and others to discuss the opportunities from responsible wage digitization in Egypt to advance workers’ financial inclusion and economic empowerment while increasing efficiency and transparency in global supply chains.
We will share insights and learning from supporting nine garment factories with over 24,000 workers (43% women) in Egypt, to digitalize their wages, and providing financial capability training for workers. This led to 93% of women and men being paid into accounts and start to use a range of financial products services. Workers increased their financial resilience with 60% of women and 65% of men saving regularly. Employers reported improved business efficiency, cutting the cost of payroll by more than half.
We will also discuss what's needed to take this to scale to reach 2.5m garment workers (40% women) in Egypt.
