From learning to leading: Ry’s financial journey  Banner Image

For Ry, a garment worker in Cambodia, financial security means more than just saving - it’s about building a future. She’s working towards buying a house, supporting her grandparents, and helping her son complete his education.

Attending RISE Financial Health training at work was a turning point. She learned that she could save safely and efficiently using digital tools like her banking app, instead of relying on cash. It’s quicker, more reliable, and helps her stay on track with her goals.

Now, Ry is a peer educator, helping other women and men workers make the most of their digital wages. She teaches colleagues how to make online payments, plan for financial emergencies, and save for the future.

"At the end of the day, I’ll ask colleagues: ‘What have you learned today?’ One of them recently told me I helped them save for a motorbike,” she recalls.

Ry and other peer educators are at the heart of a ripple effect of financial empowerment, creating widespread, lasting change - all starting with the shift from cash to digital wages.
